March On’s Statement on Texas Primary Results:

MARCH ON and March On! Texas are thrilled that all three of our endorsed candidates will be in the May runoffs. The marchroots are ready to support these fantastic candidates through their primaries and all the way to Congress. Texas hasn’t elected a female freshman representative to Washington since 1996 – and only 3 of their current 38-person delegation are women. We are working to change that.

“Democratic women across Texas have successfully stepped up to make their voices heard as candidates in 2018,” said March On! Texas Executive Director Melissa Fiero. “March On! Texas is so excited to continue our support for those women —especially Gina Ortiz Jones, Lillian Salerno and Lizzie Fletcher as they complete their march to U.S Congress.”

From MARCH ON Executive Director Vanessa Wruble: “We started MARCH ON to support the candidates and causes chosen by the marchroots as a way to harness the power of the women’s marches and direct it at the polls. Last night’s wins in Texas are proof that we are making progress, and we are excited to be picking up momentum as we work for real, systemic change.”
