Declaration for American Democracy Coalition is hosting a call on Thursday, January 27th.
Last week, despite the broad public support for this legislation among voters across the political spectrum, Senate Republicans and two Senate Democrats blocked the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act from passing – by weaponizing an archaic Senate loophole, – the filibuster, – to prioritize the will of a Senator minority rather than the majority of American voters. But in the face of this obstruction, we are not giving up.
Join us on Wednesday for a Movement Call to hear updates on the effort to pass comprehensive democracy reform and hear from Movement Leaders on how we can protect the freedom to vote in 2022.
We can not sit idly by while extremist state legislators attack our freedom to vote and silence our voices through partisan gerrymandering. Join us, as we continue calling on our elected leaders in Congress to do everything they can to pass voting rights legislation that will ensure that voters can safely and freely cast our ballots, protect against election sabotage, stop partisan gerrymandering, and limit the influence of dark money in politics so that billionaires can’t buy our elections.
